Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is one of the most common overuse injuries among runners, athletes in general and It can affect people who sit a lot for work, climb stairs, garden, etc., etc. This occurs when the iliotibial band, the ligament that runs down the outside of the thigh from the hip to the shin, is tight or inflamed. The IT band attaches to the knee and helps stabilize and move the joint. When the IT band isn’t working properly, movement of the knee and/or the hip becomes painful. IT band & hip pain can be severe enough to interrupt your sleep & critically limit your movements during the day. Many people misdiagnose this Syndrome as a sciatic nerve issue. The really good news is that this Syndrome is relatively easy to fix with the use of massage. Good News Indeed!!!
